Public Health Scotland (PHS) undertook a review of the index case time analysis figures within the Contact Management System (CMS) as part of a data quality assurance exercise. A coding error was identified which has now been rectified and the previously published figures have been revised on 6 November 2020.

The impact of the error is shown in a detailed excel document which presents the previously published index case numbers and percentages and the revised index case numbers and percentages. In each table (4,5 and 6) the weekly proportion within 24 hours has reduced and 24-48, 48-72 and over 72 hours has increased. The total number of index cases remains unchanged. This impacts only on data included within this publication and no other outputs produced by PHS are affected.

The coding error has not affected any strategic or operational decision-making on the contact tracing programme.
